William Bews died from wounds on 23rd November, 1914, after having been sent to a base hospital on the coast, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Welsh battalion was part of 3 Brigade, 1st Division, that had arrived in France at the beginning of the war and had seen action during the First Battle of Ypres in October and November, 1914
